Astoria Fire Department is hosting the Randy Carpenter Memorial Firefighter Search, Survival and Rescue School. The only opportunity to receive your Advanced Breathing Apparatus Specialist certificate on the west coast. A three day intense course designed to prepare firefighters to thrive on the fire ground. The course focuses on the hands on development of basic and advanced skills related to operating in the harsh, toxic-smoke filled environment of the fire ground by being pushed to your limits. Day 1 is geared toward proving you can survive when things go bad. Day 2 sharpens our rescue capabilities so we know we won't leave someone behind. Finally, day 3 exposes the harsh reality of rapid intervention operations.
